Without a doubt the most exciting event on the V8 Supercar Calendar, most of the 3.2km circuit is made up from the former Australian Formula One Grand Prix street circuit designed in conjunction with former Formula One World Champion Keke Rosberg. Renowned as the best street circuit in the world after its 11 year tenure as the home of the Grand Prix, the fast layout leaves absolutely no room for errors and its concrete barriers have on many an occasion provided a stark reminder to V8 Supercar drivers of just how hard it can bite if mistakes are made. Often the scene of titanic V8 Supercar battles, this circuit and record public attending two day race event is the jewel in the crown of V8 Supercar racing in Australia and one of the biggest domestic sporting events in the country.
Mark Winterbottom
“Turn 8 is definitely the scariest corner in the series; sixth gear, 220kph and the only thing that stops you is the concrete wall. The car’s normally got four wheels off the ground at Senna Chicane, which sends a big jolt through the car.”
Steven Richards
“Searing in-car temperatures and 26 gear changes per lap make this the ultimate driver challenge. We spend up to two-and-a-half hours in-car, on a circuit that has no opportunity to catch your breath.”
